Though it’s easy to forget Dubai is located in the middle of the desert, you’ll want to be prepared for an occasional sandstorm. They don’t happen too frequently, but when they do, slip on your sunglasses to protect your eyes.
Visibility can get pretty bad, so if you’re driving, leave extra space between you and the car ahead. Turning the air conditioning away from your face is also a good idea so you don’t inhale any sand particles.
Although sandstorms can be a bit unpredictable throughout the day due to desert winds, or shamals, they are usually short-lived and absolutely spectacular to see.
