Ordering a cup of Singaporean-style coffee may take a little practice, so it’s important to brush up on some of the lingo and get a basic understanding of your options. Once you do, you’ll be much more comfortable ordering.
The next time you’re at a "kopitiam" (local coffee shop) and want a regular coffee, ask for a "kopi" and you will be served hot coffee with condensed milk. If you like it black, order a "kopi-o", or if you want them to hold back on the sugar, ask for a "kopi kosong." Fancy a coffee with unsweetened milk? That is a "kopi-c"; the C stands for evaporated milk. To keep you cool in the tropics, you can get a "kopi peng" (on ice). The same terms apply for "teh" (tea).
